The Obama administration is drawing up plans to give all U.S. spy agencies full access to a massive database that contains financial data on American citizens and others who bank in the country, according to a Treasury Department document seen by Reuters. Financial institutions that operate in the United States are required by law to file reports of ‘suspicious customer activity.’ A move like the FinCEN proposal ‘raises concerns as to whether people could find their information in a file as a potential terrorist suspect without having the appropriate predicate for that and find themselves potentially falsely accused,’ said Sharon Bradford Franklin, senior counsel for the Rule of Law Program at the Constitution Project, a non-profit watchdog group.

My Thoughts,

I don’t have to say it, but this is a no brainer.  The Obama Administration didn’t sell us out, but due to current economics the US Government DID sell out citizens and consumers long ago.   You see, unlocking your phone is NOT a right.  At least not when you just bought your new phone on a 2 year contract.   You must wait out the time of two years to go ahead and do whatever you want with it (phone).  Now, no one is really stopping you from unlocking your phone before your two year contract agreement is over.  But if you decide to take it elsewhere because of buyers remorse, or any other excuse which would legally break your end of an agreement/contract.  Then the Carriers have the right to sue you.  And if you go about buying many new phones at discounted prices only to sell them unlocked before their intended release, then I agree with the Carrier.

Now, if you bought your phone out right, full price and all.  Then you damn well have the “Right” to unlock your phone. Then the law has absolutely nothing to do, or apply to your problems.

I saw both ends of the argument, and I’m just left thinking, WTF has lead us up to this point?

People fighting to do stuff their phones had no intention of doing, but because the hardware is nearly universal, why not?    Okay no prob, don’t sign a contract.
